Airport transfers in Croatia
Croatia’s coast is long and its islands, old towns and national parks are spread out, so a private transfer is often the easiest way to get from the airport to your apartment or hotel. Prices are in euro, and most companies publish fixed prices per vehicle rather than per person.
Main airports
- Split Airport (SPU) – for Split, Trogir, the Makarska Riviera and the islands
- Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) – for Dubrovnik, Cavtat and Montenegro
- Zagreb Airport (ZAG) – for the capital and Plitvice Lakes
- Zadar Airport (ZAD) – for Zadar, Pag and Novalja
- Pula Airport (PUY) – for Istria, Rovinj and Poreč
- Rijeka Airport (RJK) – on Krk island, for Kvarner and Opatija
Typical transfer prices
Airport to city transfers usually cost €25–50: Pula Airport to Pula about €25, Zadar Airport to Zadar about €35, Dubrovnik Airport to the Old Town about €45 and Split Airport to Split about €50. Long rides cost more: Split to Dubrovnik about €300–350 and Split to Zagreb about €400.
Cross-border transfers
Dubrovnik is only about 40 minutes from the Montenegrin border, so many travellers combine Croatia with Montenegro (Kotor, Budva) or with Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croatia is in the Schengen area, so bring your passport for these trips. From Zagreb, Istria and Rijeka, transfers also go to Ljubljana, Trieste, Venice, Vienna and Budapest.
Booking tips
Book early for July and August, give your flight number for tracking, and ask for child seats in advance. Prices are usually per vehicle, so a van for 7–8 people is good value for families and groups.
Bosnia and Herzegovina from Croatia
From Split and Dubrovnik, private drivers also go inland to Mostar, Medjugorje and Sarajevo. See our Bosnia and Herzegovina transfers guide.
Croatia also borders Slovenia: shared shuttles run between Zagreb and Ljubljana from about €23, and Istria is close to Piran.
Northern Croatia is also close to Trieste Airport in Italy.
