How to get from Split Airport to the old town, ferry port and Trogir in 2026: the airport shuttle bus, Promet bus 37 fares and times, taxi prices, Uber and Bolt, and pre-booked private transfers.
The easiest way to get from Split Airport to the city centre is the airport shuttle bus, which costs around €8–€9 and takes about 30–45 minutes to Split’s main bus station beside the ferry port and old town. The cheapest option is Promet bus 37 at €4 from the driver, but it is slower (around 50 minutes) and ends further from the old town. A taxi or Uber costs roughly €25–€50 and takes 25–45 minutes depending on traffic. For a driver waiting at arrivals, compare operators on our Split Airport transfers page.

Split Airport shuttle bus to the city
Split Airport is not actually in Split: it lies near Kaštela, roughly 20–25 km west of the old town and only about 6 km from Trogir. The airport shuttle, run by Pleso prijevoz, is the simplest public option for most visitors. It leaves from outside the arrivals hall and runs to Split’s main bus station (Autobusni kolodvor), which sits on the harbour next to the ferry and catamaran terminal and the train station, a short walk from Diocletian’s Palace and the Riva.
The shuttle is timed to flights rather than running to a fixed clock timetable: it generally leaves about 30 minutes after a scheduled arrival. Fares reported for 2026 are around €8–€9 one way, paid to the driver or at the desk outside arrivals, and the trip takes about 30–45 minutes, longer on summer afternoons when the coast road is congested. For the return trip, the shuttle leaves the main bus station roughly two hours before scheduled departures.
The shuttle is the best choice if you are staying in the old town, catching a ferry, or continuing by long-distance bus. If your accommodation is in Žnjan, Bačvice or the hills behind the centre, you will still need a short taxi from the bus station.
Split Airport bus 37
Promet Split, the city bus company, runs line 37 between Split, the airport and Trogir. The stop is on the main road (Cesta dr. Franje Tuđmana) in front of the airport, a short walk from the terminal. Buses run roughly every 20 minutes during the day, less often early in the morning and late at night. Under the timetable valid from 8 September 2025, the first bus leaves Split at 04:00 on weekdays (04:30 at weekends) and the last at 00:15, while from Trogir the first bus is at 04:00 and the last between about 23:05 and 23:45.
Promet says the trip from the airport takes about 50 minutes to Split and about 10 minutes to Trogir. In Split, line 37 ends at the suburban bus station on Sukoišanska street rather than at the harbour, so allow 15–20 minutes on foot to the old town.
Bus 37 fare
Under Promet’s price list valid from 1 June 2026, a ticket between Split and Kaštela (where the airport is) costs €4.00 bought from the driver or €2.00 bought in advance at a kiosk, ticket machine or in the app. Tickets are valid for 90 minutes from validation. Have small notes or coins for the driver. Timetables and route details are on the Promet bus line 37 page.
Split Airport taxi price
Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall when flights land. Expect around €35–€50 to Split city centre and around €15–€25 to Trogir; fares are higher at night, in peak season and with lots of luggage. Several companies operate at the rank and not all use a meter, so ask for the price before you get in and confirm whether the driver takes cards. A fixed-price pre-booked car can cost about the same as a rank taxi in summer.
Uber and Bolt at Split Airport
Uber operates in Split and lists pickups at Split Airport; the app shows the meeting point, which may be on the main road rather than at the terminal door. Bolt also operates in Split. Fares to the old town are typically around €25–€45 and rise with demand on busy summer afternoons. Waits can be longer in peak season and after midnight, when the taxi rank or a pre-booked transfer is more reliable.
Pre-booked private transfers from Split Airport
For two people travelling light to the old town, the shuttle bus works well. A pre-booked transfer is often worth it when:
- You are heading beyond Split, to Makarska, Omiš, Primošten or a villa in the hills, where buses need a change.
- You have a ferry or catamaran to catch and want a guaranteed drop-off at the port.
- You are a family or group: a minivan at a fixed price can cost less than four or five shuttle tickets plus a taxi at the other end.
- You need child seats fitted in advance or have bulky luggage such as diving or cycling gear.
- You land late, when the shuttle has finished for the night and taxis set their own prices.
Compare the companies serving the airport on our Split Airport (SPU) transfers hub, or browse drivers in the city on the Split transfers page. Local companies listed in our directory include Spalato Transfers, Split Airport Transfers (Kontino), TravelSpotting Transfer Split, Split Luxury Transfers and Easy Balkan Transfers. You book directly with the company, so confirm the price, vehicle size, child seats and waiting time in writing.
Split Airport to Trogir, Makarska, the islands and beyond
Split Airport to Trogir
Trogir is only about 6 km from the airport. Bus 37 gets there in around 10 minutes for €4 from the driver, and a taxi or Uber costs roughly €15–€25. Drivers are listed on our Trogir transfers page.
Split Airport to the ferry port and Hvar or Brač
Ferries and fast catamarans to Hvar, Brač, Vis and other islands leave from Split harbour, next to the main bus station where the airport shuttle stops. Jadrolinija and other operators run Split–Hvar, Split–Stari Grad and Split–Bol routes, and summer catamarans fill up, so buy tickets in advance and allow at least an hour from landing to reaching the port. Sailing times are on the Jadrolinija Split–Hvar page.
Split Airport to Makarska
The Makarska Riviera is roughly 85 km south-east along the coast, usually around 1¼–1½ hours by car and longer in summer traffic. There is no direct airport bus, so most visitors take a transfer or the shuttle into Split followed by a coach. See our Makarska transfers page.
Zadar, Dubrovnik and Mostar
Longer road transfers are common from Split: Zadar is roughly 1½ hours north on the motorway, Dubrovnik around 3–3½ hours south (via the Pelješac Bridge, without crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Mostar roughly 2½–3 hours inland with a border crossing, so carry your passport.
Split Airport with kids or heavy luggage
Families usually find the shuttle bus more comfortable than bus 37: luggage goes in the hold, there are fewer stops, and it ends close to the port and old town. On bus 37 you keep bags with you on a city bus that fills up with commuters and beach-goers in summer, so it suits light travellers better. Promet sells a child ticket for ages 6 to under 10 at €2.00 from the driver (€1.00 pre-bought). Croatian law requires child seats in cars for young children, and rank taxis rarely carry them, so if you are travelling with babies or toddlers, request seats when you book a transfer and confirm the number and type. With a pram, a car seat and several suitcases, a minivan is often the only vehicle that fits everything in one trip.
Tips for arriving at Split Airport
- Night arrivals: bus 37 runs from about 04:00 to midnight, and the shuttle follows the flight schedule. If you land very late, book a transfer or use the taxi rank rather than waiting for an app ride.
- Agree the taxi price first: ask for the total to your address before loading bags, and use cars at the official rank or ones you have booked.
- Old town access: much of the historic centre is pedestrianised, so cars stop at the edge; check how close your driver can get to your accommodation.
- Paying: carry some cash in euros for buses and smaller taxis. Card payment is common but not universal.
- Tipping: not expected. Rounding up or a couple of euros for help with heavy bags is usual.
- Peak season: in July and August the road from the airport through Kaštela to Split is often congested in the afternoon, so allow 50–60 minutes if you have a ferry to catch.
