Transfers in Porto
Porto is Portugal’s second city, on the Douro river. Transfer firms here cover the airport, the cruise terminal, day trips to the wine country and long routes to Lisbon and Spain. Its old town is steep and busy, so a driver who knows the drop-off points is useful.
Popular routes from Porto
- Porto ↔ Porto Airport: about 10 km, private transfers about €20–40
- Airport → Vila Nova de Gaia: about €35–45
- Airport → Braga or Guimarães: about 55 km, about €65–95
- Porto → Douro Valley: from about €182–185
- Porto → Lisbon: from about €360–450
- Porto → Fátima: from about €240 from the airport
Porto taxis
Porto taxis are metered. A large radio-taxi cooperative has run in the city since 1960, with wheelchair-ramp taxis in its fleet. Night, weekend and holiday fares are about 20% higher.
Cruise and cross-border trips
Leixões Cruise Terminal is in Matosinhos, about 5 km from the airport. Several firms also drive to Vigo (about €175–220) and Santiago de Compostela (about €273–345) in Spain. Most transfer prices are fixed per vehicle, and many include some waiting time at the airport. If you are a group, ask for a van, which is often cheaper than taking two cars. Suburban trains also link São Bento and Campanhã stations in about four minutes.
