Transfers in Faro
Faro is the capital of the Algarve and sits in the middle of the regional railway. Faro Airport is only about 7 km away by road, so trips into the city are short and cheap. Many visitors pass through on their way to the beach resorts further west.
Faro Airport to Faro prices
- Taxi: about €15–18 plus luggage, 10–12 minutes
- Private transfer: from about €25 per vehicle
- Bus 16: €2.80 single, cash only, about 20 minutes
On bus 16, check the sign: buses marked “Praia de Faro” go to the beach, not the city. Taxi fares are about 20% higher at night and at weekends, and each bag costs €1.60.
Onward routes from Faro
Trains run west to Lagos and east to Vila Real de Santo António, with direct trains north to Lisbon. Transfer firms based in Faro also cover Albufeira, Vilamoura and cross-border trips to Seville.
Tips
The last buses and trains leave Faro around 7–8pm. If your flight lands late, book a transfer or use the taxi rank. Ride-hailing apps also work in the area. Most transfer prices here are per vehicle, so they are good value for families and small groups.
