Belfast taxis since 1962 – 1,200 cars
Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland, so prices here are in pounds. Large local taxi firms run fleets of hundreds of cars, and chauffeur companies cover airport runs, weddings and tours to the Giant’s Causeway. Most firms take bookings 24/7 by phone or app.
Metered taxis follow Northern Ireland’s maximum fares. From 6am to 8pm on weekdays, the meter starts at £3.20, with £4.40 for the first mile and £1.86 a mile after. Evenings and weekends cost more, at £2.03 a mile. Taxis may add £1 for each passenger beyond four, plus airport charges. Class C and D taxis are outside the cap, so agree the fare first.
The Enterprise train runs up to hourly from Belfast Grand Central to Dublin Connolly in about 2 hours. Dublin Express coaches cost from about £8.50 and reach Dublin Airport in about 1 h 45 min. See all UK transfers.
By day the meter starts at £3.20, with £4.40 for the first mile and £1.86 a mile after.
George Best Belfast City Airport is just 3 miles from the city centre.
The Enterprise takes about 2 hours from Belfast Grand Central to Dublin Connolly.
