Timișoara Traian Vuia International Airport (TSR) is the main airport of western Romania, about 12 km north-east of Timișoara city centre. It has flights to Italy, Germany, the UK and other European countries, and is used by many business travellers visiting factories in Timiș County.

A private car to the city centre usually costs around €20–30 and takes about 20 minutes. Popular longer routes are Arad (about 1 hour), Reșița and the Banat mountains, and cross-border trips to Belgrade (2.5–3 hours) and Budapest (about 4 hours).
