Madeira Airport transfers
Madeira Airport (FNC), named after Cristiano Ronaldo, is in Santa Cruz, about 13 km east of Funchal. It handled about 5.65 million passengers in 2025. There are no air-bridges, so you walk or take a bus from the plane to the terminal. Many local firms publish fixed fares, so you know the price before you travel and can compare.
Madeira Airport transfer prices
One local company publishes these private fares per vehicle (1–3 people):
- Machico: about €15
- Caniço: about €17
- Funchal: about €23
- Calheta: about €50
- Porto Moniz: about €65
A taxi to Funchal usually costs about €30–45.
Madeira Airport to Funchal by bus
The SIGA Aerobus costs €6.50 single and is paid in cash to the driver. It runs about every hour in the day and takes 30–50 minutes. Group shuttles start at about €7.50 per person for six or more.
Tips
The airport has a single runway on a raised platform, and strong winds can delay flights. Choose a transfer with flight tracking so your driver waits if you land late. Ride-hailing apps also serve the airport. If you are staying in the city, see our Funchal transfers guide. For flights to the mainland, see the Portugal overview.
