Transfers in the Algarve
The Algarve is Portugal’s southern coast. The A22 motorway runs along it from the Spanish border to Lagos, passing close to Faro Airport. Most visitors land at Faro and take a taxi or a pre-booked transfer to their resort. Distances between the airport and the main resorts are short, so most transfers take under an hour.
Faro Airport to Algarve resorts prices
- Vilamoura: about 25 km, transfers from about €34–35
- Albufeira: about 36 km, from about €38–40
- Lagos: about 80 km, about €78–95
- Faro city: from about €25
Most published prices are per vehicle, not per person. A22 tolls are about €6–8 between Faro and Lagos.
Long-distance and cross-border routes
From Faro Airport, Seville is about €275 per vehicle and Lisbon about €297. Seville Airport to Lagos is about €320.
Tips
The last onward buses and trains leave Faro around 7–8pm, so late arrivals need a taxi or a booked transfer. Taxi fares are about 20% higher at night and at weekends. Large groups can book coaches, for example about €358 for 49 seats to Albufeira. Book early in July and August, when demand peaks. Many companies offer child seats on request, so mention them when you book.
