Ireland airport transfers and taxis

Most visitors arrive at Dublin Airport, the country’s busiest by far. In the south and west, Shannon, Cork and Kerry airports are closer to Galway, Limerick and the Ring of Kerry, and some travellers also fly into Knock. Buses are a strong, cheap option from every main airport, while taxis and chauffeurs suit families, groups, golf trips and late arrivals.

Main Irish airports and city links

Ireland national maximum taxi fare

Taxi fares across Ireland are capped by the NTA national maximum fare, in force since 1 December 2024. By day the meter starts at €4.40 and adds €1.32 per km, with higher premium rates at night, on Sundays and on public holidays. Pre-booking adds €3, and each extra passenger €1.

Dublin Port ferries and the Belfast link

Dublin Port handles ferries and cruise ships, about 2 km from the centre. For Belfast, the Enterprise train runs from Dublin Connolly in about 2 hours, and coaches leave from Dublin city and Dublin Airport.
