Debrecen transfers and shuttles
Debrecen is Hungary’s second-largest city, with about 200,000 people. The M35 motorway brings it within about two hours of Budapest, and the city has its own airport. That airport has few flights, so most long-distance travellers still use Budapest Airport.

Shuttle prices are one way, and one local firm has run the route since 2007.
Debrecen trains, trams and longer trips
InterCity trains from Budapest take about 2 h 15, and regional trains about 2 h 50. In town, tram 1 links the main station with the University, and a single DKV ticket costs about HUF 480 in the app or HUF 500 on paper. For Vienna Airport, private cars cost about HUF 180,000 one way, a long but simple door-to-door trip. Some firms also cover Eger. Flying into the city? See our Debrecen Airport guide.
