Cavtat is a small, pretty harbour town about 17 km south of Dubrovnik. It is the closest resort to Dubrovnik Airport, only about 10 minutes away, which makes it popular with families and travellers who want a quieter base.
A private transfer from the airport to Cavtat costs about €27, one of the cheapest airport rides in Croatia. Drivers wait in arrivals and drop you at your hotel or apartment in town or on the Rat peninsula.
The drive to Dubrovnik’s Pile Gate takes about 25–30 minutes. In summer there is also a boat service from Cavtat harbour to the Old Town, which many visitors enjoy as a day trip.
Cavtat sits in the Konavle region, close to the Montenegrin border. Transfers and day trips to Herceg Novi, Kotor and Perast are easy to arrange, as are wine tours in the Konavle valley.
Cavtat’s old town is partly pedestrian, so tell the driver your exact address. Book early in July and August, when the airport is very busy.
