Getting from Sofia Airport to the city centre
Sofia Airport (SOF) is about 10 km east of the city centre. There are three main ways into town:
- Metro: line M4 starts at Terminal 2 and reaches Serdika station in the centre in about 20 minutes. From Terminal 1, take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 2 first.
- Taxi: taxis wait outside both terminals. Use the official taxi desk and agree how the fare is calculated before you leave.
- Private transfer: a driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign and drives you door to door at a fixed price. Listed companies advertise Sofia Airport to the city centre from about €24 to €40 per car, or about €65 in a Mercedes E-Class.
Sofia Airport to Bansko, Borovets and Plovdiv
Sofia Airport is the main arrival point for skiers. Private transfers to Bansko take about 2.5–3 hours and start from roughly €80–100 per car, while shared shuttles start from about €22 per person. Borovets is about 1–1.5 hours away. Plovdiv is about 2 hours by motorway.
Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?
Most airlines use Terminal 2. Low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and Wizz Air usually use Terminal 1. Tell your transfer company your flight number so the driver goes to the right terminal. Some companies note a terminal entry fee of around €10 for pick-ups, so ask whether it is included in your price.
Choosing a Sofia Airport transfer company
