Transfers in Vienna
Vienna has one of the best-organised taxi markets in Europe. Since 2020 taxis and private-hire cars work under the same licence, and every driver needs a taxi driver licence. Since March 2021 taxis may also offer fixed prices for pre-booked trips within the city. This makes it easy to know the cost of your ride before you set off.
Vienna taxi prices
- Metered day tariff (Monday to Saturday, 06:00–23:00): flag fall about €3.80
- Nights, Sundays and holidays: flag fall about €4.30
- Ordering by phone or app, or more than 4 passengers: about €2 extra

Long-distance transfers from Vienna
Transfer firms quote fixed fares for longer trips. One airport transfer company lists Linz and Graz at about €250 each, around 2 hours, and Salzburg at about €340, nearly 4 hours. Cross-border trips are popular too: Bratislava is about 50 minutes from the airport and Budapest about 2.5 hours.
Chauffeurs and minibuses
For business travel, events and groups, Vienna has chauffeur services with hourly hire and minibus operators with large fleets. Prices are usually on request, and drivers can wait while you attend meetings. For the ski resorts, flying on to Innsbruck or Salzburg is often easier than a long road transfer.
