Vienna Airport transfers
Vienna International Airport is in Schwechat, 18 km south-east of central Vienna. It handled about 32.6 million passengers in 2025. A taxi into the city takes about 20–25 minutes.
Vienna Airport taxi prices
- Fixed airport taxi fares: about €37–42 for up to 4 people
- Pre-booked transfer firms: from about €27–38 by saloon and about €70 by 8-seat van
- Longer trips: about €250 to Linz or Graz and about €340 to Salzburg
At arrivals, use only the taxi rank in front of the hall or the official counters. The airport warns against drivers who approach you inside. Airport taxis have plates starting “SW” and ending “TX”.
Vienna Airport trains and buses
- CAT to Wien Mitte: about €14.90 one way, 21 minutes non-stop. In autumn 2026 it was temporarily running with premium coaches, so check before you travel.
- S7: about €5.50. Until the end of October 2027 it only runs to St. Marx, so take the REX7 to the Hauptbahnhof (about 20 minutes).
- Vienna Airport Bus: about €11 one way on several city lines.
Tips
Book a dedicated airport taxi for the trip out, as some firms add a return charge otherwise. Bratislava is about 50 minutes away by car and Budapest about 2.5 hours. For groups with lots of luggage, an estate car or van is worth booking in advance.
