Switzerland airport transfers and taxis
Most visitors fly into Zurich, Geneva or Basel. Swiss trains are fast and frequent, so they are a strong option for many trips. Taxis are expensive and fares are in Swiss francs (CHF), so a fixed-price private transfer often makes sense for families, groups and ski luggage.
Main Swiss airports for transfers
- Zurich Airport to Zurich: official Airport Taxi about CHF 65, train 15 minutes
- Geneva Airport to Geneva: taxi fixed fare about CHF 50–60, train about 7 minutes
- Basel EuroAirport to Basel: Swiss-sector taxi about CHF 50, bus 50 about 20 minutes
Swiss train or private transfer?
Direct trains link the airports with most cities, and Zurich Airport to Lucerne takes about 1 h 10. Private cars cost far more but go door to door. If you drive, you need the CHF 40 motorway vignette. Lugano has no regular scheduled flights, so most people fly to Milan Malpensa.
Ski transfers and car-free resorts
Zermatt and Saas-Fee are car-free. Cars stop at Täsch or the Saas-Fee car park, and you finish by shuttle train or electric taxi. Shared ski shuttles to Verbier cost about CHF 60–90 per person, while a private car from Geneva Airport costs about CHF 400–550 or more. Davos and St. Moritz are best reached from Zurich.
