Transfers to Maribor
Maribor is Slovenia’s second-largest city, known for its wine region, the old town on the Drava river and the Pohorje ski area. Maribor’s own airport has very few scheduled flights, so most visitors fly into a neighbouring airport.
Airports for Maribor
- Graz Airport (Austria): about 60 km, 1 hour – taxi about €75, shared shuttle from about €24
- Ljubljana Airport: about 130 km – taxi about €150
- Zagreb Airport: about 130 km – taxi about €150
Shared or private?
Shared shuttles from Graz Airport are the cheapest choice for solo travellers. Families, groups and business travellers usually prefer a private taxi with a fixed price agreed in advance.
Tips
Pre-book airport rides by phone or online, because fares taken on the spot can be higher. In winter, ask for a vehicle with winter tyres if you are heading to Pohorje.
Maribor is also a good base for the Jeruzalem and Ptuj wine regions and for skiing on Pohorje, which hosts the women’s World Cup races. A driver can combine an airport pickup with a wine-route tour, and companies can quote prices for groups, conferences and university visitors.
