Airport transfers in Romania
Romania is a big country with long distances between cities, and train connections to the airports are limited. A pre-booked private transfer is often the easiest way to reach your hotel, a ski resort in the Carpathians or a town in Transylvania, especially with luggage or late at night.
Main airports and cities
Most international flights land at Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport (Otopeni, OTP), about 17 km north of Bucharest. Other busy airports are Cluj-Napoca (CLJ), Timișoara (TSR), Iași (IAS), Sibiu (SBZ) and the new Brașov-Ghimbav Airport near Brașov.
Typical transfer prices in Romania
A private car from Otopeni to central Bucharest usually costs €25–40. From Brașov Airport to Poiana Brașov expect about 135 RON (around €27). Long rides cost more: Bucharest to Brașov is about €120–150 by car, and Sibiu to Bucharest about €370. Many companies quote in RON, so check the currency when you compare.
Black Sea coast and cross-border trips
In summer many visitors travel from Otopeni to Constanța and Mamaia, about 3 hours by motorway. Romanian and Bulgarian companies also run cross-border transfers to Bulgaria (Ruse, Varna, Sofia), to Chișinău in Moldova and to Budapest and Belgrade.
Tips for booking
Book directly with the company to get a fixed price, ask if tolls and the motorway vignette are included, and give your flight number so the driver can track delays. In winter, ask for a car with winter tyres for mountain roads.
