Transfers in Florence
Florence is easy to reach from two airports: Florence Airport, just outside the city, and Pisa Airport on the coast. The historic centre is a limited traffic zone (ZTL), which affects how cars can reach your hotel.
Florence Airport to the city prices
- Taxi to the historic centre: about €25 by day, €27 at night and €30 on public holidays
- T2 tram to Santa Maria Novella: about €1.70, around 20 minutes
- Up to four passengers per taxi, with about €1 for each extra bag
Pisa Airport to Florence
Direct buses take about 1.5 hours and cost about €12–18. A private transfer from Pisa Airport to Florence costs about €220, according to one published price list.
Florence ZTL and private cars
Licensed NCC cars hold transit permits for the ZTL, so they can drop you at hotels in the historic centre. Taxis use a flat rate inside the centre, but the meter applies outside it. For day trips, private drivers also go from Florence to the Cinque Terre; one company lists Florence to Monterosso at about €550. Large chauffeur firms from Bologna also cover Florence.
Give your hotel name when you book, so the driver can plan the best way into the centre.
