Eger transfers and taxis
Eger is a popular day trip and short-break town from Budapest. Trains and coaches are frequent, while taxis and private transfers suit airport runs, late arrivals and evenings out. Most visitors arrive from the capital by rail or coach.

Eger trains and coaches from Budapest
Trains leave Budapest-Keleti hourly. Odd-hour departures are direct, while even-hour trains need a change at Füzesabony. Fast trains take about 2 h to 2 h 20, and return fares are typically about HUF 5,000–7,000; InterCity trains need a seat reservation. Volánbusz coaches leave Budapest Stadionok twice an hour and take about 2 hours. Eger station is about 1.5 km from the centre, a 10-minute walk or a ride on buses 10, 11 or 12.
