Getting to Piraeus port
Piraeus is Greece’s largest port and the main departure point for ferries to the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese, as well as for cruise ships. It is about 12 km from central Athens and about 45–60 minutes by car from Athens Airport.
Athens Airport to Piraeus transfer
Many travellers land in Athens and catch a ferry the same day. A pre-booked transfer that tracks your flight is the safest way to make the connection. Athens Transfer Service lists Athens Airport to Piraeus from about €82 in a Mercedes minivan, and Athens Taxi Hub includes up to one hour of free waiting at the airport and port.
Which gate?
Piraeus is large, with many gates spread along the harbour. Ferries to different islands leave from different gates, and the cruise terminals are separate. Tell your driver your ferry company or ship so they drop you at the right gate.
Shore excursions from Piraeus
Cruise passengers can book private shore excursions to the Acropolis and central Athens. George’s Taxi, Chauffeur Greece and Athens Minibus all run tours timed around ship arrival and departure.
