Germany airport transfers and taxis
Germany has several big airports, each with fast trains into the city and a regulated taxi trade. City councils set the taxi meter tariff, so fares from the airport are predictable. Pre-booked chauffeurs and transfer firms add fixed prices, larger vans and long-distance trips.
Main German airports for transfers
- BER Airport to Berlin: about €45 by taxi to Alexanderplatz
- Munich Airport to Munich: official taxi fixed fare of €96 to the Hauptbahnhof
- Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt: about €35–45 on the meter, 10–15 minutes
- Hamburg Airport: about 8.5 km from the centre, with fixed prices on request
Taxi meter or fixed price?
Street taxis use the local meter tariff. Munich and Berlin now also allow pre-booked fixed prices within a set band around the meter fare, and Hamburg is trialling one fixed price per ordered trip. Private transfer firms quote a fixed price per vehicle, which suits families and groups.
Cruise ports and ski transfers
Baltic and North Sea cruises start in Hamburg, Kiel and Warnemünde, so book ahead on turnaround days. In winter, Munich Airport is a busy gateway to the Austrian ski resorts, such as Kitzbühel and Mayrhofen, about 2 to 3 hours away by car.
