Transfers in Saranda
Saranda is the main town of the Albanian Riviera in the far south of the country. It is a long way from Tirana by road, but only a short ferry ride from Corfu, so many visitors arrive by sea. Local taxi drivers meet the ferries and also run long transfers to Tirana Airport.
Getting to Saranda
- From Corfu Airport: fly to Corfu, then a 30–75 minute ferry to Saranda port
- From Tirana Airport: about 4.5–5 hours by car, from about €155
- From Vlora: about 9,000 ALL by taxi along the coast road
Local rides and day trips
From Saranda, taxis go to Ksamil (about 20 minutes), the UNESCO ruins of Butrint, the Blue Eye spring and the stone town of Gjirokastër. Owner-drivers offer private day trips at a price agreed before you leave.
Tips
Ferry times change by season, so share your crossing time when you book a pickup. Many local drivers prefer cash in lek or euro. In July and August the road to Ksamil and Butrint gets busy, so go early.
Most drivers can also arrange the return trip to the ferry or to Tirana Airport.
