Palma Airport to City Centre & Mallorca Resorts: 2026 Guide

Updated · 9 min read

How to get from Palma Airport to the city centre and Mallorca's resorts in 2026: EMT bus A1, TIB Aerotib buses to Alcúdia and Magaluf, regulated taxi fares, Uber and pre-booked transfers.

The cheapest way from Palma Airport to the city centre is the EMT airport bus A1: it takes around 20 minutes to Plaça d’Espanya and costs €5 in cash or around €3 if you tap a contactless bank card. A taxi to central Palma usually costs around €25–€35 and takes 15–20 minutes, and for Alcúdia, Magaluf or other resorts you can take a TIB Aerotib bus or compare pre-booked cars on our Palma Airport transfers page.

Bus fares are per person; taxi and transfer prices are per vehicle. There is no train or metro from Palma Airport, so the choice is between bus and car. For three or four people heading to a resort an hour away, a car often costs not much more than the combined bus fares and saves a change in Palma.

Palma Airport bus A1 to the city centre

EMT Palma, the city bus company, runs line A1 between the airport and the centre. The stop is outside arrivals on floor 0: walk out of the terminal past the taxi rank, cross the road and keep right. The A1 and A2 stops are next to each other, with the TIB intercity buses alongside. Aena lists the A1 as also stopping on the departures level (floor 2).

The A1 runs to Plaça d’Espanya, Palma’s main transport hub, in around 20 minutes, then continues into the centre along the edge of the old town. Plaça d’Espanya is home to the Estació Intermodal, where TIB trains leave for Inca, Sa Pobla and Manacor, many island buses start, and the historic Sóller train has its terminus next door. If your hotel is near the cathedral or the seafront, stay on the bus and check the stops on the EMT screens or app. The A1 no longer runs along the port, so for the cruise terminal and the Paseo Marítimo you may need a taxi or a second bus.

A1 fares and how to pay

The single fare is €5 in cash, and children under five travel free. Since March 2026 every EMT bus accepts contactless bank cards and phones, and the island’s integrated fare system gives 40% off for the first passenger and up to 60% off for companions (groups of up to five) when you pay by card, which brings the A1 down to around €3. Tap your card on the reader when you board. The old paper airport tickets were withdrawn in January 2026, so ignore any advice to buy one in advance. Buses have luggage racks, but they fill up on summer evenings when several flights land together.

Buses run roughly every 15 minutes during the day and less often late in the evening, from early morning until late at night. If you land after midnight, check the current last departure on EMT Palma before relying on the bus.

Line A2 to Can Pastilla, Playa de Palma and S’Arenal

Line A2 leaves from the same stop and runs along the beach strip through Can Pastilla and Playa de Palma to S’Arenal in around 30 minutes, with the same €5 cash fare and card discount. It runs about every 25 minutes. TIB line A51 also reaches S’Arenal, more directly, but less often.

TIB Aerotib buses from Palma Airport to the resorts

The Balearic government’s TIB network runs four Aerotib lines straight from the airport, so you do not need to go into Palma first. They leave from the bus area outside arrivals (floor 0), and the full list of lines is on Aena’s Palma Airport bus page. In summer 2026 (27 March to 31 October) the routes are:

  • A11 Camp de Mar – Airport: Portals Nous, Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponça and Peguera. Around 40 minutes to Palmanova and about 1 hour 10 minutes to Peguera.
  • A32 Can Picafort – Airport: Inca, Sa Pobla, Alcúdia old town, Platja d’Alcúdia, Platja de Muro, Son Bauló and Can Picafort. Around 1 hour to the Alcúdia area.
  • A42 Cala Bona – Airport: Algaida, Montuïri, Vilafranca, Manacor, Portocristo, S’Illot, Sa Coma, Cala Millor and Cala Bona. Around 1 hour 10 minutes to Sa Coma and up to about 1 hour 35 minutes to Cala Bona.
  • A51 Campos – Airport: S’Arenal, Llucmajor and Campos. Around 45 minutes to Campos.

Most Aerotib lines run roughly every 45–60 minutes from early morning until late evening. In winter the routes are shortened: in 2025/26, for example, the A11 ran to Peguera, the northern line became the A33 to Port d’Alcúdia and the eastern line the A43 to Manacor, with first buses from around 05:30–07:45 and last buses around 22:30–23:40. Expect a similar pattern from 1 November 2026.

Aerotib fares and payment

Fares depend on distance. Paying by contactless card is much cheaper than cash: as a rough guide, around €2.70–€5.40 by card and €4.50–€9 in cash on the shorter A11 and A51 trips, and around €8 by card or €13.50 in cash to Alcúdia bay or Cala Millor. On TIB buses you tap in when boarding and tap out when you get off with the same card, otherwise a small penalty is added. Cash tickets from the driver can only be paid with notes up to €20. Card rules are explained on the TIB bank card page. Large suitcases go in the hold.

Palma Airport taxi price

The taxi rank is directly outside arrivals on floor 0. Aena advises using only the signed rank and ignoring anyone offering rides elsewhere in the terminal. Taxis are metered and Mallorca’s fares follow a single regulated tariff introduced in 2025 for Palma and the municipalities that have joined it:

  • Day tariff (weekdays 07:00–21:00): €2.50 flag fall, €1.20 per km.
  • Night, weekend and holiday tariff: €2.85 flag fall, €1.35 per km.
  • Airport supplement: around €4.65 per journey, not per passenger.
  • Minimum fare from the airport: €16.95.

Extra supplements apply for five or more passengers in a larger vehicle and for mountain areas such as Formentor and Sa Calobra. There is no charge for suitcases, pushchairs or wheelchairs.

In practice, expect around €25–€35 to Palma centre (more at night), around €40–€50 to Magaluf or Santa Ponça, around €50–€60 to Peguera and around €80–€110 to Alcúdia. These are estimates, not fixed fares, so ask the driver for a rough price before setting off on a long trip. Most Palma taxis take cards, but confirm before you start.

Uber at Palma Airport

Uber operates in Mallorca with licensed VTC cars and has pick-up spaces in a signed VTC area near the taxi rank at arrivals. Prices are shown in the app before you book and rise when demand is high, so on busy summer Saturdays a taxi can be cheaper. Driver numbers are limited, so do not rely on an app as your only plan for a late arrival.

Pre-booked private transfers from Palma Airport

With a pre-booked transfer, a driver waits in arrivals with a name sign and the price is agreed before you travel. That is worth considering when:

  • You are going to the north or east coast, such as Port de Pollença, Cala d’Or or Cala Ratjada, where the bus involves a change or a long ride and a metered taxi can be expensive.
  • You are a group or family that needs a minivan for six to eight people, or a car with child seats fitted, which ordinary taxis do not always carry.
  • You land late at night, after the last Aerotib bus, or on a summer weekend when the taxi queue is long.
  • You have golf bags, bikes or a lot of luggage that need a larger vehicle.
  • You want a fixed budget, since flight delays and traffic do not change the agreed price with most operators.

You can compare operators that serve the airport on our Palma Airport transfers hub and contact them directly. Local companies listed in the directory include Palma Transfer, Majorca Transfer and Transfers Minibus Mallorca. When booking, give your flight number so the driver can track delays, and ask how much waiting time is included and whether child seats cost extra. For journeys starting in the city, see our Palma de Mallorca transfers page.

Palma Airport to Alcúdia, Magaluf, Port de Pollença and Cala d’Or

Palma Airport to Magaluf, Palmanova and Santa Ponça

The Aerotib A11 is the direct bus option, taking around 40 minutes to Palmanova with Magaluf and Santa Ponça a little further on. By road it is around 25 km and 20–30 minutes; a taxi costs around €40–€50.

Palma Airport to Alcúdia

The A32 runs to Alcúdia old town, Platja d’Alcúdia and Platja de Muro in around 1 hour. In winter the service runs as the A33 to Port d’Alcúdia. By car the trip takes around 45–55 minutes on the motorway, and a taxi costs around €80–€110.

Palma Airport to Port de Pollença

No Aerotib line goes to Port de Pollença. Take the A32 to the Alcúdia area and change to a local TIB bus or taxi, or take a bus from Palma’s Estació Intermodal. A car takes around 50–60 minutes, and a taxi or pre-booked transfer is the simplest choice with luggage.

Palma Airport to Cala d’Or

There is no direct airport bus to Cala d’Or. The A51 runs to Campos, and TIB buses link Palma with Santanyí and Cala d’Or, so the trip by bus means at least one change. By car it is around 60 km and roughly 45–55 minutes, which is why most visitors with luggage take a taxi or book a transfer.

Tips for arriving at Palma Airport

  • Night arrivals: Aerotib buses stop in the late evening and the A1 runs less often late at night. After that, use the taxi rank or a pre-booked car; the night tariff applies to taxis from 21:00.
  • Pay by card on buses: contactless cards are cheaper than cash on both EMT and TIB buses. On TIB buses remember to tap out when you get off.
  • Use the official rank or an app: unlicensed drivers approach passengers in summer. Licensed taxis queue outside arrivals, and Uber cars must be booked in the app.
  • Check the season: Aerotib routes and timetables change on 1 November and again in late March, and some resort lines are shortened in winter.
  • Tipping: not expected. Rounding up a taxi fare or adding a euro or two for help with bags is common.
  • Peak traffic: the Ma-19 and Ma-20 around Palma are busy on summer Saturdays, the island’s main changeover day. Allow extra time when heading back for a flight.
