Airport transfers in Slovenia
Slovenia is compact, but many visitors fly into neighbouring countries, so airport transfers often cross a border. The main airport is Ljubljana Airport (LJU) at Brnik, but Venice, Trieste, Zagreb, Klagenfurt and Graz are all common alternatives. Slovenia uses the euro and is in the Schengen area.
Main destinations
- Ljubljana – about 26 km from the airport, 20–30 minutes
- Lake Bled – about 35 km from the airport, 30 minutes
- Bohinj and Kranjska Gora – about an hour away in the Julian Alps
- Piran and Portorož – on the coast, about 1.5 hours from Ljubljana
- Maribor – in the east, closest to Graz Airport
Typical prices
A shared shuttle from Ljubljana Airport to the city costs about €8–9 per person, and a taxi about €20–45. Ljubljana Airport to Bled is about €65 per vehicle. Shared shuttles from Venice Airport to Ljubljana start at about €21 per seat.
Motorway vignette
Slovenian motorways require an e-vignette linked to the number plate (from €16 for 7 days). Transfer companies include it in their prices, which is one reason a transfer is easier than a short car rental.
Slovenia also borders Italy: Trieste Airport and Venice Airport are common alternatives to Ljubljana.
