Slovakia airport transfers and taxis
Slovakia has three main airports: Bratislava, Košice and Poprad-Tatry. Many visitors fly into Vienna, Budapest or Kraków instead, then cross the border by bus, train or private car. Transfer firms publish fixed prices per vehicle, so it pays to compare.
Vienna Airport to Bratislava buses and taxis
Vienna Airport is about 50 km from Bratislava Airport. Buses from Bratislava to Vienna Airport run daily from 3 a.m., with fares from about €7.90 and free Wi-Fi. Private cars between Vienna Airport and Bratislava cost about €45–75 for up to four people, or about €65–100 for a minibus. Some firms add Vienna Airport parking of about €3–6.
Trains and long-distance transfers
The Bratislava–Košice main line crosses the country via Piešťany, Žilina, Liptovský Mikuláš and Poprad. Several rail companies run trains on it, and Bratislava to Liptovský Mikuláš takes about 3 h 20, with the cheapest fares about €13. Košice is about 400 km east of Bratislava, so a private car from Košice to Bratislava Airport costs about €325–345.
High Tatras and Jasná mountain transfers
For the High Tatras, fly to Poprad-Tatry, about 5 km from Poprad. Taxis from Poprad to Starý Smokovec cost about €15–18 and to Štrbské Pleso about €30–40. Slovakia’s largest ski area, Jasná, is about 12 km from Liptovský Mikuláš, and a taxi from Poprad costs about €80–85.
