Santorini airport and port transfers
Santorini Airport (JTR) is about 6 km from Fira, and Athinios, the main ferry port, is about 10 km south of Fira down a steep zig-zag road. Taxis on the island are limited, and queues at the port can be long in summer, so most visitors pre-book a transfer.
Shared shuttle or private taxi?
Santorini Transport Company runs both shared shuttles and private taxis from the airport, Athinios and the old Fira cruise port, with unlimited luggage. For a luxury ride, VIP Transfers Santorini uses a Mercedes S-Class, Range Rover and V-Class, with airport transfers from about €36 and Athinios port from about €45.
Where to stay and transfer times
Oia and Imerovigli on the caldera are about 20–30 minutes from the airport. Kamari is close to the airport, and Perissa and Perivolos are on the south-east coast. Allow extra time from Athinios port, where traffic can back up when several ferries arrive together.
