Mostar, with its famous Old Bridge (Stari Most), is the most visited town in Herzegovina. Most travellers arrive by road from the Croatian coast or from Sarajevo, and private transfers are the most flexible option because buses are slow and trains are limited.
A big advantage of booking a private driver is that you can add stops on the way. Popular ones are the Kravice waterfalls, the walled Ottoman village of Počitelj and the Blagaj dervish house at the source of the Buna river. Some companies include these stops in a fixed price.
Medjugorje is about 30 minutes from Mostar. The drive from Dubrovnik takes around 2.5–3 hours including the border, and from Split about 2.5–3 hours. Bring your passport, since Bosnia is outside the EU and there are border checks.
Mostar companies also run day tours of Herzegovina, so you can combine a transfer with sightseeing.
